“The time will come when diligent research over long periods will bring to light things which now lie hidden..."
― Lucius Annaeus Seneca, First Century A.D.
We have been researching this since 2008. We would like to share with you what we have learned.
For more than twenty years we have been solving problems with simple solutions that work, and meet the need of the business. With every solution, we strive for the simple. Simple is the most effective way to solve a problem and meet a need. After the point where simple meets solution, you are no longer serving the need. What we have discovered is amazing and is something any business can easily put to work.
This long journey began more than twelve years ago. In the beginning we had a very bad problem and no solution. In the beginning... we just believed!
We have to go back to when tape drives were the primary backup medium. The tape drive, being very mechanical, tended to break down quite frequently. If it were installed in a server that everyone used, then this became a larger problem. The problem with the tape drive would need to be addressed without disrupting everyone’s work. This was not always simple.
For you see, to deal with the tape drive the server would need to be shut down. When you shut down production servers, one cannot just assume they will come back up. If you take the server down, you are responsible for all outcomes. The buck stops with you! There was another aspect of this we wanted to address. Because it was a production server, the window to operate on it was small.
We wanted to address both of these problems at the same time. To do this we created a layer of abstraction between the server and us. We used a simple, but quality computer to create a Backup System. All the data from any system we needed would update on this backup system each night. This not only gave us a second live copy of everything but allowed us to make our backups from here and address any tape drive problems we may have at any time without putting any of our production servers at risk or disrupting anyone’s work.
We used a layer of abstraction to remove the risk from that which was most threatened by it and addressed both of our problems at the same time. Simple, effective and it greatly added to the stability of the network for it completely removed all of the “but for the tape drive” shut downs.
When the malware problem came up in 2008 (more than twelve years ago), we applied the same methodology to it. Just like the tape drive, we wanted to move the web browsing off the computer that was at risk and put it somewhere that would no longer threaten the local computer or anything else on that network.
Far better than we ever imagined and like with the tape drive, it was simple, highly effective and easy to maintain. With every install, the malware problem just died. It was amazing.
We would now like to share this with you!

Who are we at The Zeldaserver Project? We are a pair of Computer Science graduates with more than 40 years of combined experience in Information Technology. We have a great breadth of experience in building highly reliable solutions in highly demanding environments. For us, the bar was set high early on and it only went up.
The Zeldaserver was born of our need to provide access to the internet for our users while keeping the environment within which they worked safe from anything they may run into. In 2008 there were no solutions like this, and we were cleaning or rebuilding workstations every week.
So, we created our own!
With each Zeldaserver we installed, the malware problem came to a sudden and complete stop. And it never came back. We were amazed at how effective the Zeldaserver was at preventing local workstation infection.
To this day, we have never had a local workstation that was using a Zeldaserver while browsing the web get infected. And now, we would like to share this solution with you.

We have found in our work, that the only way to know that something works is to watch it over time. Time does indeed tell all tales. Well, it has now been more than twelve years since we built our first Zeldaserver and we can say with great confidence that the Zeldaserver works. And that it will work for You!
The Zeldaserver ® could very well redefine the way the world browses the web!
We Believed... And it Worked!
